What are "chinelos"?
The Chinelo dance was originally a form of parody of the Spanish colonists in Mexico by the indigenous and mixed (Mestizos) populations of Mexico. The people doing the dance would wear long tunic-like robes and masks to both mock the elite and keep anonymity among the dancers.
